TRINITY COLLEGE LONDON CERTIFICATE IN TESOL

This is an internationally-recognised qualification, of which upon completion, enables you to teach English to speakers of other languages anywhere in the world.

It is the first step towards an English language teaching career. It includes basic language teaching methodology and provides you with a foundation understanding of how languages work.

福利在线视频 New Zealand offers short-term intensive training courses for in-service teachers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Our programmes are customised to the needs of the teaching professionals who study at 福利在线视频 New Zealand.

Our programmes are based on the CertTESOL requirements developed by Trinity College London, as well as on our extensive experience in providing EFL teacher training programmes for groups such as those sponsored by the Ministry of Education of Vietnam; Tianjin University, China; Prince Royal College, Thailand, and many more. Our courses also provide overseas teachers with the opportunity to improve knowledge of the English language, become acquainted with New Zealand's unique culture, and to gain a wealth of new teaching ideas and materials for use in the EFL classroom.

Applicants may enrol for courses beginning at several points throughout the year. These dates can be negotiated to a certain extent with the course provider. Participants can enrol for periods of between two to three weeks.[1] Each week's programme consists of up to 30 hours of classes, observations, teaching practice and planning. We also offer a number of exciting cultural activities, day trips and excursions (the cost of activities is not included into the course prices).

THE TRINITY CERTIFICATE IN THE TEACHING OF ENGLISH TO SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (Trinity Cert TESOL)

The Trinity Cert TESOL is a qualification suited to those wishing to teach English as a second language, but possess little or no experience in doing so. This programme equips students with the basic skills and knowledge required for ESOL teachers. The programme also gives students a firm foundation for self-evaluation and opportunities for further professional development. It is also suitable for trained teachers who are not trained in TESOL.

The Trinity Cert TESOL can be taken as a stand-alone course, or as part of the Graduate Diploma of Contemporary International Studies (GDCIS). Details of each of these can be viewed below: 

STAND-ALONE COURSE STRUCTURE

There are two parts to the course, the first being a Distance Education component, the second an on-campus course. The Distance Education component consists of a series of study guides with the accompanying tasks based on the three set texts. Trainees must complete this Distance Education study before they start the on-campus programme. The on-campus component is a five-week intensive course in which the syllabus is covered by a series of lectures, seminars, and workshops. Teaching practice is integrated by relating the course components to practical teaching of various ESOL classes.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Be at least eighteen years-old.
  • Have a good standard of education to at least the equivalent of New Zealand University Entrance.
  • Have English language competence equivalent to a native speaker (a band score of 7.5 in IELTS or Trinity College London Grade 10 in spoken English for Speakers of Other Languages or the equivalent).
  • Complete a language awareness task and be available, if required, for interview.

 

RECOMMENDED PRIOR KNOWLEDGE

The Trinity Certificate In Teaching English To Speakers Of Other Languages is a five-week course preceded by a distance learning programme which covers the following topics:

  • TESOL introductory reading (three modules)
  • Language awareness (six modules)
  • Practical elementary phonology (two modules)

Completion of the distance learning component is normally a prerequisite for entry to the five-week course.
