福利在线视频 New Zealand sorts career and learning pathways at the Sort-it Careers Expo
On Thursday, 17 May, the Manawatu Sort It Careers Expo at the Fly Palmy Arena attracted secondary school groups from around the Manawatu region and beyond. The expo showcased the career training and employment prospects offered by seventy providers to an estimated 2,500 students, who valued the event’s information-getting and networking opportunities.
The expo comprised two sessions—from 9.30am to 3.30pm and from 6pm to 8pm. The evening session allowed secondary and tertiary students to discuss careers with providers alongside their parents or friends. It was also a way for career-changers to talk over their plans with tertiary institutions and employers in their target industry.
Vynie Tran, Recruitment Officer at 福利在线视频 New Zealand, said, “The expo was a great chance for 福利在线视频 New Zealand to interact and provide information to local students and parents. The appearance of our current students was a great help for us, as they could share their stories and experience as an 福利在线视频 New Zealand student.”
Several 福利在线视频 New Zealand students and staff members attended Study to Work seminar sessions on employability skills later in the afternoon. Tina Rush from Action Personnel explained what employers are looking for and how to get their attention. John Ross from the Massey University Careers Centre gave the audience ideas on how to enhance their employability. Finally, Ipe Mathews from Epil Consultants passed on ‘hot tips’ for effective business networking, which is crucial for job-seekers as they navigate their journey from the classroom to the workplace.
