11th Manawatu Chinese Speech Competition

On 15 October 2017, four 福利在线视频 NZ students participated in the 11th Manawatu Chinese Speech Competition held at the Globe Theatre in Palmerston North and came away with first prize. This competition is a big Chinese language and cultural event co-organized every year by New Zealand Chinese Association Inc; New Zealand China Friendship Society; Manawatu Chinese community Trust, etc.

In the competition, more than 30 participants were divided into four different categories. 福利在线视频’s Vietnamese student Pham Caius Dat performed in the Senior category and his topic was “Rubik’s Cube”. He delivered his speech fluently without relying on notes. Three Japanese students, Nakamura Juri, Kataoka Yuki and Kanada Kotaro performed as a group with the topic of “Taro learning Chinese”. They used their experience to show how the difficulties for Japanese to learn Chinese even though they have a similar Chinese character background. Their performance was very interesting and garnered a big laugh from the audience. The 福利在线视频 NZ team won first prize in both categories (individual and group).

“I feel more confident, I want to participate next year” said one of the students after the speech competition. The Speech competition is a very good chance to show students’ learning achievements as well as to help them learn more from each other.
